Reader Question: What are the best ways to wear an infinity scarf? What are some accessories to pair with one?
We all have those trusty accessories that we turn to when the temperature drops. Over the years infinity scarves have become huge and it’s quite obvious why. Not only do they come in fun and glamorous color combinations, prints, textures and sizes, but they’re essentially fuss-free because you don’t have to worry about tucking ends and rewrapping every few minutes. Even though they’re so easy to wear, some times we still get stuck on how to style them into our everyday outfits. Here are 3 ways that you can wear your favorite infinity scarves this winter!
(scarf: Dots (similar), sunglasses: Forever 21 (similar), lipstick: Revlon “Fire & Ice“)
I absolutely love when I find an extra wide infinity scarf because that means it’ll be able to wrap around my neck and go over my head to act as a hood. 2-in-1, hello! Since this style always makes me feel like a celebrity hiding from the paparazzi, I like to pair my hooded infinity scarves with some big sunglasses and a bold lip color. My favorite combination at the moment is this netted scarf I got from Dots a few years back paired with these sunglasses from Forever 21 and a red lip. You can also find tons of handmade scarves that are made specifically to be able to act as a hood and scarf simultaneously on Etsy.
(hat: L.L. Bean (similar), lipstick: MAC LE “Sweet Experience”)
Another way I like to wear my infinity scarves is by matching its colors with other winter accessories, like a hat or pair of gloves. Matching your accessories is just another way to look fabulous while keeping yourself warm, which, let’s be honest here, is hard to do. I also try to keep the textures the same, so if I’m wearing a thick knit scarf I’ll find a thick knit hat to coordinate. Instead of matching bright colors, I prefer to match the neutral tones so I can mix and match more, like I did with the cream color in my striped scarf. My L.L. Bean beanie matched perfectly and kept me bundled up the entire day.
Make A Statement
Since I absolutely love textures, especially in the the fall and winter, I like to buy textured scarves to make a statement with my outfits. My newest scarf is this black faux fur one I found at Clothes Mentor, a resale shop similar to Plato’s Closet but specifically for women. It’s the perfect winter accessory to go from day to night and from class to dinner or whatever event you have to be at. Since it is more of a statement, I keep my other accessories to a minimum. I like to wear a smaller pair of statement earrings and a glossy lip.
These are just 3 of the infinite ways of wearing an infinity scarf. How do you like to wear your infinity scarves?
