With cooler weather in the air, it’s important to consider transitioning our makeup into the new season, just as we do with our wardrobe. A simple and quick addition to boots and scarves is lipstick. Hues of red are a go-to color all year round, but can add some extra color to your everyday fall attire. Below are some of my favorite fall lipstick colors, from darker scarlet to essential ruby red and nude.

Brand: NARS

Color: Scarlet Empress – semi matte blue red

For a deeper look, try this rich red with underlying hints of blue that adds flair to the typical dark red lip. Oftentimes, our complexion becomes more fair in the fall so test out this color to pop against the skin.

Brand: Urban Decay

Color: 69 – bright red w/pink undertone

For those who are accustomed to ruby red lip, this bright red color is sure to make a statement with any outfit. With undertone shades of pink, you can add some lighter color to a darker outfit with just a quick application.

Brand: Bobbi Brown

Color: Italian Rose – medium rose

For a gentle hint of red with deep purple tones, try a darker shade of rose in your lipstick. This color is sure to stand out without being seemingly too red. Tip: mix and match your eyeshadow shades to bring out the richer colors of your lipstick!

Brand: Marc Jacobs Beauty

Color: 142 Pout – matte soft nude

Nude is continuing to be a hit this fall and a soft nude gel lipstick is sure to match any outfit or makeup palette, especially for people who are new to wearing lipstick. Having an undertone of pink and red will give you just the right amount of pigment.

If you’re still unsure which lipstick color will best match your complexion, head to a makeup counter to test out some swatches against your skin tone. Various undertones will highlight something different for each person. Dark, richer colors make a great statement, so don’t be hesitant to try out a new color for the fall season; however, if you’re new to the lipstick world, dip into some neutral nudes.
