How can I add edge to my style?

Answer: Sometimes the best way to refresh your wardrobe in the spring is to add a little edge. Whether you just want a bit of edge or a full wardrobe makeover, it can be easily done with a few key pieces and accessories.

Start first with accessories. A white tee and jeans can easily be made more interesting with tons of rings, bracelets, and necklaces. I love the combination of turquoise rings with a leather cuff. Don’t be afraid to stack bracelets up and add gold and silver to the mix!

Another great way to add edge to your style? Get some edgy boots. You’ll know you’ve found these boots when you try them on, as you’ll instantly feel as though you could take on the world. Whether they’re combat boots, cowboy boots, or booties—they’ll add edge to anything you’re wearing.

Forever 21 is a great place to experiment with your style because it’s relatively inexpensive and has tons of variety. I recommend going alone, walking around with some music in your ears, and pulling out a bunch of edgy clothes you wouldn’t normally wear.

Find an emblem or pattern that you love and look for it in different stores. I became enamored with skulls and now have a shirt, leggings, and several skull bracelets. Why have a signature fragrance when you can have a signature pattern? Animal print, stripes, and studs are some more edgy options.

If you don’t want to spend any money, add edge to your makeup routine. The easiest way to do this? Get messy! Smoke out your eyeliner, use a black cream eye shadow, and get that lived-in look. Or add some drama with blue eyeliner or a neon lip.

Finally, find a style icon if you don’t have one already! Instagram is chock full of style icons: Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, and my personal favorite, Kylie Jenner, who is a very fashionable and badass chick. Stroll through their pictures, print some out, and inspire yourself daily.

You’ll be a new girl with a new attitude, ready to strut your stuff down the street.
