Question: What’s the best way to cover up pores?
Answer: Pores seem like the most obnoxious concept; we sweat and release toxins out of our pores, right? So then why do they have to be humongous and ruin our entire look? Even applying makeup over enlarged pores can sometimes make the issue worse, so it’s important to know which products help shrink those babies so they’re completely invisible.
First off, it’s important to know some facts about your pores before working on a master plan to diminish them. Believe it or not, pores are actually hair follicles. Everyone has them, so why do they appear larger on some people and not others? For starters, this could be due to oily skin or acne. Clogged pores equals large pores, so it’s best to keep skin as clean as possible by cleansing regularly. In addition, skin damage is also to blame for large pores. Sure, that golden tan you got from laying out in the sun for hours on end looked good last summer, but sun tanning can do serious damage to your skin in the long term. Lastly, age and genetics play a factor in pore size, especially since skin loses elasticity with age.
Enough bad news—there are ways to successfully reduce the size of pores and achieve more flawless skin. A great product to assist in minimizing pores is Olay Regenerist’s Detoxifiying Pore Scrub, which helps combat the issue of large pores by cleansing and exfoliating. In order to get all of that gunk out of your pores (the stuff that looks like a magnifying glass is being held to your face), you need to cleanse thoroughly. Using warm water (not ultra hot—it’s too drying!) helps too; the heat opens up those pores for deep cleansing.
Another winner is Clinique’s Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector. Clinique is known for releasing incredible products that cater to a variety of skin types, and this product in particular does a great job of “filling in” pores and fine lines, causing them to practically vanish.
Lastly, try Dr. Brandt’s Pore No More Pore Refiner. This product creates a matte look and contains microspheres and flaxseed to minimize pores and absorb oil. Shine-free and poreless…now that’s what I’m talking about!
