Question: How can I get dewy skin in winter?

Answer: Despite the bitter cold, we all aspire to look dewy and moisturized in the winter. The first step to achieving this is to stay hydrated and well rested. Oh, and don’t forget to eat your fruits and veggies. Here are some tricks to fake that lovely summer glow throughout those sleepless nights and winter winds:

1. Invest in a quality highlighter.

There are plenty of great highlighters out there, like MAC Strobe Cream. Run the highlighter down the bridge of your nose, over the tops of your cheekbones and on your cupid’s bow for a fuller pout.

Alternatively, if you prefer to look glowing without any makeup or shimmer, try using face oil. Boots Botanics Facial Oil has a wonderful herb and citrus smell and is extremely hydrating. Tap the oil in the same place you would normally swipe the highlighter. It’ll illuminate your face like nothing else. You can also pat a small amount of oil all over your skin before you apply foundation.

2. Change up your eye shadow routine.

In place of powder shadows, vouch for a cream eye shadow, or eliminate it all together! Super slick eyelids were all the rage at New York Fashion Week this year, and I’ve been adopting this dewy look myself. To achieve this simple look, use an eye cream or simply Vaseline on your eyelids. Line your eyes close to the lashes to fake the appearance of thicker lashes. Throw on some mascara and you have a super easy (and dewy) day look!

3. Add some dewiness to your lips.

I love lipstick as much as the next girl, but in the winter months they can be very drying. In place of lipstick, use a tinted lip balm like Fresh Sugar Lip Balm. If you want more color on your lips, apply a powder blush over the lip balm with your fingers. You can choose from a variety of colors, from brick red to pale pink. The combination of hydrating lip balm combined with powder pressed over top gives an amazingly natural effect that is sure to keep your lips moisturized.
