Luminous, dewy skin has been on trend all summer, and it will continue to be on trend throughout the winter when cold weather can make skin look dry and dull. Getting dewy skin is actually much easier than it might seem! Because many foundations and primers have a luminous finish, it’s incredibly easy to achieve this look with the right products!

Pick Your Primer

Primer is essential when you wear foundation. It also works wonders for luminous skin. It’s important to find a primer that provides a dewy finish. Primers like MAC Strobe Cream are great for this purpose. My favorite is the Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer. This primer creates a dewy base, provides shine in a good way, and keeps foundation flawless all day. You can find this primer at Target, so it’s super convenient too!

Pick Your Foundation

Foundation is probably the most crucial step in creating luminous skin. There are a bunch of foundations that are formulated for a dewy look. My favorite is the L’Oreal True Match Lumi foundation. This foundation has staying power and gives off a gorgeous luminous finish. It has a convenient pump top, it doesn’t oxidize, and it’s inexpensive! All around, it’s a great buy.

Pick Your Concealer

Undereye concealer is important for everyone, and not just for people who have horrible under-eye circles (i.e. me). I like to use a highlighting concealer under my eyes to create a dewy look. I like Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Concealer pen. It’s super cheap and lasts for a while. It’s really easy to apply onto the skin and gives your under-eye area some serious glow. Apply this to the highlighted parts of the face like the forehead, nose, cupid’s bow, and chin to instantly bring more light to your complexion!

Pick Your Powder

Powder is probably the most difficult step when it comes to luminous skin. Most of the time, powder is used to mattify the skin, which is the opposite effect you’re going for. However, without powdering the face, foundation can fail to set, and can move around or come off. Powder is a key step in any foundation routine, but it’s important to find a good powder that won’t completely ruin the dewy look. I like MAC Mineralized Skin Finish for this job because it has a natural finish, rather than a matte one. I like to apply powder lightly with a big, fluffy brush so that my foundation doesn’t move. Just don’t use too much or else skin can appear matte and dull!

Pick Your Highlighter

If you can’t commit to all the steps above, definitely remember this one. Highlighter is the easiest way to make your skin look dewy. Use a good highlighter for instant cheekbones and a radiant appearance. I like applying this highlighter with a fan brush or a small tapered brush. Apply it to the forehead, nose, cupid’s bow, and chin. Try products like NARS Albatross or any of the Becca highlighters. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, opt for the Wet N’ Wild Fergie highlighter in Rose Champagne, or the e.l.f. Studio Blush in Gotta Glow. Wet N’ Wild’s highlighter is my current favorite because it’s affordable and provides a subtle shimmer that has a nice “glowing from within” effect.

Don’t Forget Your Eyes!

Highlighting the eyes is just as important as highlighting the face. Try MAC Shroom or the more affordable Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma. Apply the highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes and under your brows for an instant face lift.
