Question: Best eyeliner tips for monolids?

Answer: If you have monolids, applying eyeliner may seem scary at first. You’re essentially without that little crease line that guides eyeliner across the lid. With monolids, there is no clear cut on the eyelid, but rather a tiny fold right above your eye (making it tough to see eyeliner). While it may seem like a struggle, don’t panic; there is an easy way to successfully apply eyeliner. Here are a few tips:

Pencil liner is one of the easiest methods of applying eyeliner to mono-eyelids. It’s especially fantastic because you have full control over the pencil when drawing a line across the lid. You can even draw it as close to your lash line as possible, and with ultimate control.

If you want to venture into liquid liner, you have to be motivated. Liquid liner has to be mono-eyelid’s worst enemy. It’s hard to know when too much is really too much because mono-eyelids don’t have that crease to let you know. If you’re purely a liquid liner girl, it’s so important to find a good liquid liner with a firm tip, such as Eyeko’s Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. The most effective application method? Apply pencil liner first,  (super close to your lash line) so there is very little untouched eyelid space between the lash line and eyeliner. After using pencil, sweep over the pencil line with liquid liner. This tag team duo of pencil and liquid ensures a longer lasting eyeliner. It’s also less likely to rub off since you have the power of both liquid liner and pencil liner. And, of course, if you’re into gel eyeliner, simply use gel in place of liquid.

As mentioned before, mono-eyelids have a tiny fold right above the eye. This fold makes it a little tricky for someone with mono-eyelids to line their eyes in one stroke. You may find that you have to apply extra eyeliner for full visibility. Usually with double eyelids, one stroke is just fine, but since the folds of most mono-eyelids hides a bit of skin, you’ll need thick eyeliner to make sure it shows.

Yes, there is such thing as too much eyeliner. Nobody like the panda look. It takes time and practice, but eventually you will get the hang of it and find the perfect amount of thickness for your eyeliner.

There is  one technique that works wonders: open eyes as you normally would and then, using a liquid liner, draw a dot in the inner corner of your eyes, the middle of your eyelids and the opposite ends of your eyelids. Next, try to flatten down eyelids by pulling the outer-end corner away from the nose. Hold that. Then, connect the dots and fill in the spaces. Once you open your eyes,  you’ve achieved the perfect lined look!

Mono-eyelids can be tough at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be putting eyeliner on like a professional!
