Everyone wants perfect skin, but few people actually have it. Of course, makeup can be the miracle that brings the dream of perfect skin to reality, but it’s important to use makeup in a way that results in flawless skin rather than cakey makeup. Today we’ve compiled some tips on how to help you get your flawless face with no caking! Read on to find out how to get the perfect skin of your dreams in just a few steps.
1. Prep With a Primer
This is one of the most important steps when it comes to getting perfect skin. Primers help smooth out the face by filling in pores and lines to give a perfectly smooth appearance. Use your favorite primer for this step to create a base for your flawless skin. I like Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, or, for a more affordable option, Elf Mineral Infused Primer ($6, eyeslipsface.com).
2. Use a Full-Coverage Foundation
This is probably the most important step when it comes to getting a flawless face. Your foundation is what is going to mimic your skin, so it’s important to choose a good one. My fave is Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. I like this foundation because it’s thick, but it blends into the skin effortlessly. Just dot the mousse all over your face and use your favorite brush to blend it in. I love how this foundation makes my skin look—give it a try!
3. Conceal Well
This is one of the most important steps when it comes to a flawless face. Use concealer to highlight your face by applying under the eyes, along the forehead, nose, cupid’s bow, and chin, above and below the brows, and around the corners of the mouth and nose. It seems like a lot, but once you blend it in, especially with a stippling brush, it helps draw light to the points on your face where the concealer is applied and will produce the look of luminous skin. I like using NYX HD Concealer Wand ($5, ULTA) in the lightest shade to highlight and conceal!
4. Powder Up
Use your favorite powder to set down all the foundation and concealer on the face. I’m a huge fan of Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder ($4, Walmart) or use BareMinerals Original Foundation for more coverage and a smoother look. Be sure to apply an under eye setting powder like elf HD Under Eye Setting Powder ($3, eyeslipsface.com)
5. Highlight and Contour
This is the final step to creating perfect skin. Contour using a bronzer like NYC Bronzer in Sunny, and use a natural blush like NYX Peach to add color to the face. Highlight using a highlighter like Wet N’ Wild Fergie Shimmer Palette in Rose Champagne ($6, Walgreens). Try using a small tapered brush or a fan brush to apply this highlighter everywhere we applied concealer earlier for an added shimmer.
