Question: How can I get perfect eyebrows?
Answer: Though sometimes neglected, eyebrows are essential for shaping your face. Some have even said that a perfect makeup look can be completely ruined without groomed brows. Fortunately, these two small patches of hair are easy to maintain when you have the proper tools and technique.
Every woman knows that eyebrows can be so difficult to groom if you don’t know what you’re doing. A few too many plucks and you’ll be left with two thin lines that would cause anyone embarrassment. So, the key to grooming eyebrows? Less is more. There is only so much hair to go around, so you need to be wary of how much you are tweezing.
Before you even look at a pair of tweezers, the first thing you need to do is map out your brows. The start of your brow should align with the inside corner of your eye. The top of your arch should align with your iris. The ending tip of your brow should align with the outside corner of your eye. It helps if you use the tip of a brow brush to check the alignments. Once you have mapped out your brows, use a pair of brow scissors to cut away excess hairs along the top of your brow. Using the brow brush, you’ll want to brush all eyebrow hair upward (toward your forehead). Cut any hair that extends past your natural brow line.
After you have worked on the top, it’s time shape up the bottom of your brows. Using tweezers, pluck along the bottom row of eyebrow hair. Keep those eyebrow alignments in mind as you tweeze. Pluck away all excess hair on your lids. Don’t pluck the hair along the top of your brows, as that might interfere with your natural brow shape.
The final step is filling in your brows with an eyebrow pencil or powder. Fill in your brows, and try to stay consistent with your natural brow shape. Anything extra may end up looking painted on. When picking a brow pencil or powder color, keep your natural color in mind. If you are blonde, choose a brow pencil that is a light brown or dark blonde. If you have brown or black hair, vouch for a dark brown brow pencil. Anything that is overly light or dark will cause contrast that might conflict with your complexion and hair color.
Eyebrows (and the right tweezers) are an important factor for any beauty look. Grooming your brows can seem like a daunting—and sometimes scary—task. With the right tools and technique, you’ll have brows that are both beautiful and enviable.
