Simple makeup is always a convenient go-to look on days when something complicated just won’t do. I love a simple makeup routine because it’s quick and easy. So on days when I’m just feeling too lazy to do anything else, I’ve got some of these looks in my back pocket. Try some of these basic, yet gorgeous makeup looks and put a fresh face forward.
Look 1: Neutral Eyes and Pink Lips
On days when I need to skip a few steps, I use a BB Cream or tinted moisturizer to even out my complexion. I love Rimmel London’s 9 in 1 BB Cream. It’s got a great finish and it covers well, especially when it’s applied with a brush.
Apply concealer where needed, like under the eyes or on top of any blemishes. Otherwise, continue on as normal. A full contour and highlight isn’t necessary for a day like this, but I do still like to apply blush to bring warmth to my face. Use your favorite natural-looking blush and add highlighter or bronzer if you’d like. I personally go for a spritz of setting spray to give a dewy finish.
For the eyes, try a neutral smoky eye. Find a good quad or palette with neutral browns and use them to create a simple three-color smoky eye. Begin with a medium color on the lid and a darker color blended into the crease. Finally, use a light color to highlight the inner corners and under the brows. Add eyeliner or just go straight to your favorite mascara. I like Revlon Lash Potion for a good drugstore buy. Try it out! It’s a great do-it-all mascara!
For the lips, choose your favorite pink lipstick. I’m currently obsessed with Too Faced’s new Melted lipsticks. I love the shade Melted Peony. Try it for a long-wearing pink lip that is sure to please!
Look 2: Winged Liner and Bold Lips
This is one of my favorite looks to do. It’s reminiscent of pin-up style and looks classy. Leave your face a blank canvas, add concealer, or do a full face of makeup. Do whatever makes you feel the most confident!
For the eyes, keep a blank canvas with some concealer, a cream eyeshadow, or a light shimmery shadow. Then, apply liquid or gel liner along the lashline and wing it out. I make a thick line using Wet N’ Wild Megalast liquid liner.
For lips, choose something bold like a bright orchid, orange, or red. Apply the color with a brush to avoid making mistakes and clean up the edges with concealer if you need to. Choose a long-wearing lipstick or lip stain for this look, or bring a lipstick along for touch-ups!
Look 3: Mascara and Bold Blush
For this look, create a simple base with BB cream or tinted moisturizer. Then, apply a bold colored blush with a moderate hand. I like a bright coral, but a vibrant pink or mauve would work also. Try out Milani’s Baked Blush in Corallina if you want a great coral blush that applies well with a slightly heavier hand.
For the eyes, just apply mascara. If you want to take the look a little further, add a subtle sparkle or some thin pencil liner. Do whatever makes you feel the happiest when it comes to the eyes. It’s all about the cheeks in this look.
For lips, use ChapStick or a nude lipstick. I like Maybelline Color Whisper in Some Like it Taupe. It adds a nice shine with just the right amount of opacity to warrant being a lipstick. Check out the Color Whisper Line!
Look 4: Wash of Color
For this look, start with a simple base. Use concealer, bronzer, or blush.
The eyes are the stars of this style. Apply a wash of eyeshadow in a light color of your choice. I love a wash of light green or lavender. The lime green shade in the Maybelline Eye Studio quad in Coral Oasis is gorgeous. The key is blending. Just apply a small amount of color with a brush, and blend it out into the crease. Add a transition color or just the leave the look as it is!
Keep the lips simple for this look. Try a nude lip or just go natural. Allow the focus to stay on the eyes for the best results.
