Question: How can I incorporate spring 2014 runway beauty trends into my daily routine?
Answer: While we may not all have Cara Delevingne’s eyebrows or a pro makeup artist to our makeup every morning, with a little creativity, we can all incorporate the latest runway trends in our beauty routine. At first, sifting through countless eye looks and vibrant lips may seem daunting – how could anyone make these looks wearable? The key is to remember that we can take inspiration from runway looks and stumble upon beautiful and dramatic ways to mix up our everyday beauty routines. Here are some of these season’s trends that are universally flattering:
Edgy eyes: This spring and summer, turn heads with a dramatic graphic liner look. For a more classic take on graphic liner, take some inspiration from Rodarte’s “wild L.A. girl”. Take some black liquid or gel liner and create a cat-eye shape along your upper lash line. Next, grab some black kohl eyeliner and line the outer-third of your bottom lash line, connecting it to your cat-eye flick. The end product will look like an elongated V-like shape.
If you’re feeling a little more gutsy, apply a few thick coats of black mascara and finish off by lining your bottom lash line with a deep teal color – add a small flick of liner in the outer and inner corners of your eyes to create a sultry and fierce eye look that resembles those of Marc Jacob’s 2014 collection.
Romantic beauty: The beautifully natural makeup look will never go out of style. This season, Dolce and Gabana, Zac Posen and Calvin Klein hit it out of the park with beautiful makeup that highlighted a cherubic flush and natural skin. Apply a tinted moisturizer all over your face to achieve an even and dewy complexion. Apply a light application of a pinky cream blush to achieve that ever-so-lovely “I’m in love” glow.
Vibrant lips: This season’s bold, chemical lipstick hues have got us smitten. Makeup artist Peter Philip’s went for a “chemical peach” hue on the lips of Fendi’s Spring 2014 models. If you’re yearning for an even more intense color, try taking a cue from Rag and Bone’s vibrant orange lipstick. Swipe some opaque peach or orange lipstick on your lips and keep the rest of the face pretty neutral – it’s all about the lips!
You don’t need a blunt cut or perfectly chiseled cheek bones to rock runway trends. High fashion is all about inspiration, and with a little imagination, we can create beautiful and wearable versions of runway looks! With a few of these trends in mind, we can all strut to class like the models that we truly are.
