Question:
How can I save time applying makeup in the morning?

Answer: Ever feel rushed or unprepared in the morning? Here are a few tips that will help move your beauty routine along in the morning:

Shower the night prior.

The best thing to do is shower at night. Showering at night will not only help you relax and fall asleep faster, but it will also save you more time in the morning. After showering, you can do some quick hairstyles  that can be worn to bed. Buns and braids are the best way to go for a quick sleep-hairstyle. However, if you have to shower in the morning, brush your teeth and wash your face in the shower to save some time (and water!).

Choose your outfit ahead of time.

Make sure to pick out your outfit the night before, because for me at least, it takes way too much time and energy to stare into the closet with tired eyes searching for an outfit. An additional time-saver? Designate a place to hang your “next day” outfit, which includes the outfit, shoes, and accessories.

The most invaluable trick for second-day hair is dry shampoo. It can be used to get rid of excess oil or add some volume and texture to your limp locks. This can instantly take your hair from bedhead to red-carpet ready in just a couple of sprays. There are two different kinds of dry shampoo: liquid and powder.  Liquid dry shampoos are great for adding texture and volume, while powder works wonders for getting rid of excess oil. If you’re in a pinch, baby powder also works just as well.

When running late in the morning, simplify your makeup routine and stick to the products that you feel are the most important to your beauty regimen. The three best options for a quick makeup routine are tinted moisturizer or BB cream, mascara, and lip gloss. These products will make you look awake and put-together in half the time as full makeup coverage. They’re also usually small enough to fit in your handbag, making them easy to apply even after you step out the door.

Another great and easy step is to combine product uses. For example, coconut oil doubles as both a makeup remover and a moisturizer. It can also be used to soften lips, as a natural sunscreen, and as a natural deodorant–who knew?!
