Question: What’s a quick and easy bad hair day fix?
Answer: We’ve all been there: you wake up for work or school, only to have the world’s worst hairdo happening on your head. You may think no amount of brushing, hair spraying, or accessory-wearing can ameliorate your hair situation, but we hope that this article will help you take a deep breath next time and try some of these easy ideas to turn any bad hair day into a good one.
Dry shampoo to the rescue
If you don’t already have a can of dry shampoo in your collection, put your computer/tablet/smartphone down right this instant and go pick one up! Dry shampoo will prevent so many bad hair days and freshen up your locks like you wouldn’t believe. Flat hair or hair that just doesn’t have time for a thorough washing can be transformed instantly with dry shampoo.
Fake it ’til you make it
Two of my favorite vloggers, Michelle Money and Laura Armstrong from the MMandLShow, taught me this awesome trick: if you have a greasy situation going on where dry shampoo just isn’t going to cut it, section the front of your hair off and tie the rest back. Next, shampoo and wash just that front section in the bathroom sink (really). When you’re done, untie your hair and blow dry the wet sections. Your hair will automatically look cleaner even though you just washed the front. This section gets greasy easily because we often touch the front of our hair throughout the day, and this is also the area that rubs up against our faces.
Braided beauty
Braids are the best way to hide a bad hair day. I often find that one of my biggest problems on a bad hair day is my bangs. If you also sport bangs, try my trick: part hair on the side and french braid the bangs back until about the top of the ear, then pin back with a bobby pin. You can also vouch for a low, loose braid and pull it apart for more volume and texture.
Not-so-messy bun
If your hair is uber flat, kinky, or just a hopeless mess—try flipping your hair over, spray it with some dry shampoo, and whip it into a loose, messy bun. Pull at the bun and roots of your hair for more volume. Let pieces naturally fall out for care-free whisps, and secure any unruly sections with bobby pins.
