Question: How can I achieve the winged eyeliner makeup look?

Answer: I was so excited to see this question, because I have a love affair with winged eyeliner—it’s totally my thing and I do it just about everyday! I have a few tricks up my sleeve, and they’ll make your winged eyeliner makeup routine so much easier:
Trick #1: Apply the eyeliner with your eye open! So many people close their eyes when doing winged eyeliner and are surprised by the results. When you apply eyeliner with your eyes open, you can see exactly where the product is going and it’s much easier to match both sides.

Trick #2: Use small dashes to create one solid line. Trust me, you’ll have way more control when you use dashes to create your line. You’re much more likely to mess up while attempting a solid line on your first try. Sure, it may be a bit more difficult to apply eyeliner with your eyes open, but it just takes practice—which brings me to my next tip…

Trick #3: Practice, practice, practice! Winged eyeliner is a tricky makeup skill to master, which means you have to practice at it! Everybody’s eye shape is different, so you just have to find the right shape for your eye. Also, try different liquid liners. Why? Some people prefer different brushes when applying their winged liner.

It takes a lot of trial and error to perfect the winged liner look, so don’t get discouraged! If you want to see a tutorial on how I do liquid liner, check out my How To Liquid Liner tutorial over at my blog.
