Oh 2014, we had such a good year. You embraced all of us with your fabulous and unexpected beauty trends that have truly grown dear to my heart. But as we approach a new year, we must look back at your trends like pastel colored hair, upgraded bobs, winged eyeliner, and not to forget the ubiquitous booty (thanks Kim K and Nicki Minaj), and move onto new and exciting trends. 2014, it’s been real.

So hello, 2015. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. In the meantime, based on what I’ve seen on the runway, magazines, and celebrities, here are trends that we can expect to blow up in 2015.

Pretty in Pink

In 2014, dark lipstick was all the rage. We channeled our inner vamp and adored hues like plum, deep red, and black. This year the lip craze is going down a more feminine path with pinks taking the stage. I’ll definitely be getting good use out of my Clinique Chubby Stick in Heftiest Hibiscus and MAC’s lipstick in Saint Germain this year.

Brown-Eyed Girl

Taking a turn for the more natural look, brown is going to be a huge color in eye makeup. Accenting your eyes with brown eyeliners and eyeshadows can be one of the best beauty decisions you’ll make in 2015 because the color is so versatile, compliments every skin tone, and can be carried into your day and nighttime looks.

Au Naturale

Quite possibly my favorite beauty trend of 2015. The #iwokeuplikethis movement is taking on a new meaning with bare faces being the new norm. On the runway, Marc Jacobs, DKNY, and BCBG opted for subtle to no makeup looks, with models wearing only tined eyelid cream, sheer foundation, light pink lips, or in some cases nothing but a fresh, moisturized face.

The Return of the LOB

The LOB, or long bob, introduced itself to us in 2014 and is expected to make a return this year. Think of it like someone attending an after party- they’re having so much fun, they don’t want to stop partying. With celebs from Ashley Benson to Lauren Conrad to Emma Stone sporting this ultra chic look, the LOB looks like it’s sticking around.

Crimped hair

Now I might be getting ahead of myself here, but as a lover of 90’s fashion, I’m keeping my fingers crossed on this one. 90’s fashion has made a big comeback with the grunge look, tattoo chokers, and chunky boots, so it’s only a matter of time until the iconic 90’s crimped hairdo comes back in style.

Blank Space

While 2014 was the year of extravagant and funky nail art, 2015 will greet us with blank space manicures. Think of it as an upgraded French manicure with some added modern geometric shapes. Creatures of Comfort introduced us to this trend during their Spring 2015 runway show.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a super food that isn’t only great for digestion, your immune system, and reducing your risk of heart disease (amazing, right?) but it’s an excellent moisturizer for all skin types AND strengthens hair. The list seriously goes on. There’s no question that we’ll be seeing an abundance of coconut oil infused beauty products throughout 2015. Check out these awesome uses of coconut oil here!

Multi-step beauty regimens

This year we’ll see more people taking better care of their skin and going through long, tedious routines to do so. With skincare products like Clarisonic and Foreo becoming extremely popular, it’s clear that deep cleaning is in. But this year more people will adopt the multi-step beauty regimen made famous by Koreans. My beauty to-do list for 2015 is sure to include cleansing, buffing, exfoliating, toning, facial masks, and night creams. Well, as long as I don’t drain out my bank account first…
